Innovative Packaging for the UK Horticulture Industry

23 Aug 2024

Jardin Corrugated Cases has an exemplary reputation for designing, manufacturing and supplying boxes to the UK horticulture sector, indeed, this is where our heritage began many decades ago.

In the twenty first century, with the online sector flourishing for plants, flowers, shrubs and trees, our corrugated packaging solutions have evolved to ensure all products and produce navigates the supply chain successfully, whether its from grower to retailer, grower to consumer, or retailer to consumer.

Bob Koczulab, Managing Director explains how Jardin Corrugated supports all facets of the horticultural sector, across the seasons and across the counties.

It is estimated by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture that the UK horticulture industry is worth over £5 billion annually across a variety of produce types.

For much of this to make it from growers and packers to end user, robust packaging is required to ensure delicate fruits, flowers, plants, bulbs, shrubs and trees are not damaged.

Customers choose us as their preferred packaging partner because of the experience we have in designing bespoke solutions, or simply drawing on our tried and tested designs which benefit from personalised print to keep the packaging range on brand. Utilising board that is resistant to moisture combined with innovative designs ensures products arrive at their destination as beautiful as when they left.

Flower boxes

Cut flowers being delivered by mail order is a relatively new concept but one that has been wholeheartedly embraced by customers and suppliers alike.

We are proud to work with some of the biggest online flower companies, and our range of boxes ensures blooms arrive fresh and ready to simply pop in a vase.

Whether its boxes for bouquets, or letterbox flowers, our designs have innovative fittings to protect blooms and air holes to allow air to circulate during transit, keeping flowers fresh without compromising product protection.

Mail order plants, shrubs and trees

In addition to cut flowers being delivered by post, the market for shrubs and trees ordered online and delivered direct to the recipient is also proving to be a hugely popular marketplace.

Perfect for gifts, packaging is designed to suit each brand although, as per our flower boxes we have tried and tested solutions that can be easily adapted and personalised for each brand.

Produce boxes

Anyone who grows produce knows how hard it can be to transport produce to farmers markets, independent retailers, or supermarkets. Our produce boxes are designed to keep product fresh during transit and are stackable to ensure easy transportation and optimised vehicle space.

Designed to align with the needs of growers, producers and retailers our packaging in this sector supports requirements perfectly.

Nursery boxes

Our nursery boxes ensure plants and trees at garden centres and retail outlets remain in top condition and our solutions are perfect for plug trays, plant pots into boxes, or housing bulbs and seeds.

The trays and boxes ensure products are protected and consumers/ garden centres and retailers are able to source and transport products with ease.

Sustainable and recyclable

In an industry that is based around nature, it only seems right that many growers and horticulturists prefer, wherever possible packaging that is sustainable and recyclable.

Our corrugated packaging solutions are made from board with at least 70% recycled content (dependent upon board grade and type) and all our products are fully recyclable through domestic and commercial recycling channels.
