Our Greg and 40 years service

28 Oct 2025

It was on 28th October 1985 when Greg Hitch joined Jardin Corrugated which means today, he is celebrating an amazing 40 years with us!

Before he joined us Greg had two other jobs – a hospital porter and a very short spell as a milkman. This caused him to knock on Jardin’s door, and he accepted a job with us as a labourer meaning he didn’t have to do those super early starts anymore for which milkmen were renowned in the 80s!

When a new Klett machine was installed a short time later, Greg became one of its operators before training on all the machines and becoming shift supervisor. He then moved into a training and NVQ assessor role whilst enjoying his own print and management training and achieving NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Technical Support.

15 years later he moved into design, and he’s been there ever since, solving problems, creating new designs and helping customers get the best from their corrugated packaging.

Commenting on his role Greg said, “Inevitably there is a certain amount of repetition in all jobs but what I like is the different challenges design brings, meeting customers, and making things that solve problems is always satisfying”.

“The best thing about any work though I think is the people you have working with and around you. I consider I have been extremely lucky throughout my working life in that regard,
with managers and team members alike. If I hadn’t enjoyed my surroundings I wouldn’t have managed 40 years, I’m sure! The best advice I could give to anyone coming into design or the industry is – Enjoy it as I have!”

Bob Koczulab, Managing Director, Jardin Corrugated said, “Greg is a talented designer who our customers work well with and respect him for his extensive knowledge. 40 years is an amazing achievement, and we are so pleased he chose to have such a large part of his working life with us.”

Next on the agenda of life for Greg is retirement and continued good health so he can hopefully have more time for family, gym, motorcycles, cycling, travelling and campervanning.

Greg – huge congratulations on this milestone from us all.
